President

Suzanne Rowley, Manager Business Operations, John Curtin College of the Arts

Suzanne Rowley has served as President of the Western Australian School Business Professionals Association (WASBPA) for the past 18 months, leading the Association's advocacy and strategic direction for school business professionals across Western Australia.

With more than 21 years in the Western Australian Department of Education, including 16 years as Manager Business Operations at John Curtin College of the Arts, Suzanne has extensive experience in school business leadership and governance.

As President, she is committed to strengthening the profession through collaboration with the Department of Education and key stakeholders. Her focus includes advocating for workforce attraction and retention, professional recognition, regional support, workload sustainability and high-quality professional learning opportunities for Managers of Corporate Services.

Suzanne is passionate about ensuring school business professionals are recognised as essential leaders within public education. She remains dedicated to advancing the objectives of WASBPA by promoting excellence, innovation and continuous professional development, helping to build a strong and sustainable future for the profession.

Laura McCart, Manager Business Operations, School of Isolated and Distance Education

Over her 30-year career, Laura has facilitated positive links with the Department, advocating for the  needs of members and the future of public education. She believes in fostering a community  committed to continuous learning and improvement, empowering educators to make a meaningful  impact on the lives of students and has contributed to the advancement of education in schools. 

Laura values effective communication. She encourages and empowers allied professionals in  schools, providing them with connections and opportunities for professional growth. Laura thrives in  creating a spirit of fellowship and collaboration with colleagues.

Vice President: Fiona Wilson, Manager Corporate Services, Atwell College

Fiona brings more than 25 years of executive experience in association representation and diverse Manager Corporate Services roles.  Throughout her career, she has been a dedicated advocate for the growth and advancement of associations, significantly contributing to the expansion of membership, increase in event attendance and meeting of strategic goals.

With a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the MCS role, Fiona is committed to elevating the profile of the profession and continue engaging key stakeholders to ensure members receive the support and resources needed to thrive. 

As Vice President, Fiona looks forward to collaborating with members to advance the mission of WASBPA and inspire the next generation of leaders.

Secretary

Tracey Hughes, Manager Corporate Services, Ridge View Secondary College

Tracey brings over 30 years of diverse professional experience, including 18 years in public schools.  She has served as a WAMCSE committee member, including roles as Secretary, and recently as  Secretary of the interim amalgamation committee.  

As the foundation Manager Corporate Services at Ridge View Secondary College, Tracey has been  influential in building a strong culture, aligning with priorities, strategically developing the workforce,  and forming a Manager Corporate Services network in her region. 

Tracey is committed to supporting the objectives and purposes of WASBPA through collaboration with  all members. She is dedicated to enhancing the knowledge and status of the profession.

Treasurer

Amanda Sykes, Manager Corporate Services, Rivergums Primary School

Amanda is passionate about supporting her colleagues and fostering collaboration within the  organisation. She is committed to ensuring transparency, accuracy and efficiency in financial  operations. With a strong background in finance and a dedication to the profession, Amanda is eager  to contribute her expertise and work collaboratively to support WASBPA's goals and initiatives. 

Amanda brings extensive experience as Treasurer of WAECSSA, where she has successfully  managed budgets and ensures efficient financial processes. As the foundation Manager Corporate  Services for a new school, she has honed her skills in financial planning, resource allocation and  governance.

Sandra Doncon, Manager Corporate Services – Kellerberrin District High School

Sandra is passionate about networking and is excited to be joining the WASBPA team with nearly twenty years’ experience in the role of Manager Corporate Services. She believes that fostering strong professional relationships is essential for the development of any school and is looking forward to actively networking with peers, stakeholders, and education leaders to share knowledge. 

Having previously worked as a School Officer, Library Officer, and Education Assistant, she brings a diverse range of experience to her role as a Manager Corporate Services.

Karen Sansom, Manager Corporate Services, Armadale Education Support Centre

Karen is the substantive Manager Corporate Services at Armadale Education Support Centre, where she has proudly served since 2015.

Her journey with the Department of Education began in 2000 as a School Officer at Kelmscott Senior High School. Over the years, she has had the privilege of working at Armadale SHS & ESC, Southern River College, Challis SPER, Kalamunda Primary ESC, and Wirrabirra ESC, where she commenced her permanent MCS role in 2007. Eventually, Karen transitioned back to secondary education at Armadale ESC.

Reflecting on her career, Karen is grateful for the experiences and relationships she has built. Many colleagues have become lifelong friends. Her professional network began to grow through participation in association conferences and district MCS meetings, which helped her expand her knowledge and connect with others in similar roles.

In 2021, Karen graduated from Deakin University with a Graduate Certificate in Education Business and Leadership—one of the most challenging yet rewarding learning experiences of her career. This milestone significantly shaped Karen’s leadership style and boosted her confidence. Since then, she has mentored new MCS professionals through the Leadership Institute and is currently supporting two mentees.

One of Karen’s passions is fostering collaboration among MCS professionals in the Education Support South Network. Since August 2024, she has met once a term to share knowledge, address challenges, and celebrate achievements.

The MCS role continues to evolve, and Karen is committed to supporting emerging professionals to feel valued, empowered, and successful. If Karen can make a difference in their journey, then she knows she has fulfilled hers.

Sharon Hill, Manager Corporate Services, Brentwood Primary School

Sharon brings over 40 years of experience in leadership roles across diverse industries, including  travel and education. Her career has been built on the pillars of fairness, strategic achievement and  advocacy. With her experience on the WAMCSE committee and the interim amalgamation committee,  Sharon is well-equipped to support the establishment of that will foster professional learning, business  partnerships and network sharing 

Sharon is committed to driving the objectives of WASBPA and supporting its members in achieving  excellence in the school business professional area.

Marnie Herbert, Manager Corporate Services, Bannister Creek Primary School

Marnie  brings over 20 years of experience in marketing and events, with a strong track record across both the private sector and education. Her expertise in marketing, event coordination, and school rebranding has supported the effective management of school websites, social media platforms, and newsletters across a range of school communities.

Marnie is passionate about fostering clear communication and meaningful engagement, ensuring school communities feel informed, connected, and heard. With experience across both primary and secondary settings, she currently serves as a Manager Corporate Services (MCS).

She is a strong advocate for corporate services staff, championing the recognition and respect they deserve for their vital contributions to the education system. Marnie believes that school support staff are integral to the success of schools and is committed to promoting a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Bronwyn Thornton, Manager Corporate Services, Lesmurdie Senior High School

Bronwyn is deeply committed to supporting the education of students in government schools. In her role as Manager of Corporate Services (MCS), she works proactively to ensure her school provideshigh-quality opportunities that enable students to progress beyond schooling well-prepared to contribute as engaged and productive members of the community.

Bronwyn has been an active participant in MCS and allied professional networks and was pleased to join the Western Australian School Business Professionals Association (WASBPA), attending both the forum and inaugural conference in 2025.

As a Board Member, Bronwyn will work collaboratively to support the President and fellow Board members, upholding the Association’s values while advocating for MCSs and allied professionals across Western Australian schools.

Julie Bain, Manager Corporate Services, Picton Primary School

Julie is delighted to join the board of WASBPA and to have the opportunity to contribute to an organisation that plays such an important role in our community.

Julie brings over 40 years of experience in middle and upper management across both the banking sector and education support roles. Throughout her career, she has developed a strong belief in the importance of building and maintaining professional relationships, and has always tried to lead with personal integrity, fairness, humility, and a commitment to inspirational leadership.

Julie is  particularly passionate about advocating for better recognition and support for MCSs across Western Australia. she sees this as a vital part of strengthening our schools and ensuring that those who play such a key role behind the scenes are valued and empowered.

Julie is also very much looking forward to supporting the vision and aspirations of WASBPA, and to working collaboratively with all of you to make a meaningful difference.

Jackie Watt, Manager Corporate Services, Bridgetown Primary School

Jackie brings nearly 20 years of experience working in public schools, regional office and at the Leadership Institute. She is committed to supporting her colleagues and providing collaborative opportunities to achieve results.  Jackie is eager to contribute her expertise to support WASBPA's objectives and initiatives. Jackie's strong professional relationships continue to build a strong culture within the Manager Corporate Services network in her area.

Katherine Chamberlain, Manager Corporate Services, Gwynne Park Education Support Centre

As Manager Corporate Services at Gwynne Park Education Support Centre, Katherine is responsible for the strategic oversight of financial, operational, and administrative functions within a specialist school setting supporting students with complex needs. Her expertise spans governance, compliance, workforce management, and resource optimisation, ensuring that school operations effectively support positive educational outcomes.

With more than a decade of experience in the education sector, Katherine has developed a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by school business professionals. She is committed to strengthening capability across the profession, the development of strong support networks for corporate services staff across Western Australia and promoting best practice in school operations.

Roslyn Wright, Manager Corporate Services, Vasse Primary School

Roz brings more than 20 years’ experience as a Manager Corporate Services in the education sector, spanning diverse school contexts including District High Schools, Senior Secondary Schools, and Primary Schools across regional and metropolitan settings. She has developed deep expertise in school operations, financial stewardship, human resource management, and whole-of-school compliance.

Complementing her education career is a 37-year background in small business ownership, where Roz gained first-hand insight into the pressures, rhythms and resilience required to sustain a business through periods of change. This practical commercial experience informs her approach to strategic planning, risk management, and responsible resource allocation.

Roz has a strong focus on governance, organisational growth, change management and compliance. She is committed to supporting boards and organisations to not only meet their obligations but also to adapt, strengthen and thrive in evolving environments. A trusted and collaborative leader and team member, Roz is passionate about building strong professional communities, supporting peers, promoting emerging leaders, coaching for success and contributing to WASBPA in ways that make a meaningful difference for school business professionals.
